Vegetation dynamics in nitrogen‐fertilized versus mixed legume‐smooth bromegrass pastures interseeded with sorghum‐sudangrass

چکیده
Interseeding annual warm-season grasses may increase forage and pasture productivity. From 2017 to 2019, we conducted a grazing experiment that examined smooth bromegrass (Bromus inermis Leyss.) responses interseeding sorghum-sudangrass [Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench × S. ssp. drummondii (Nees ex Steud.) de Wet & Harlan]. The had split-plot design with six main plots each containing two, 0.60-ha subplots (i.e., 12 total subplots). included three replications of two types: (A) nitrogen (N)-fertilized (FERT) (B) mixed legume-smooth [LEG; alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), red clover (Trifolium repens birdsfoot trefoil (Lotus corniculatus L.)]. interseeded unseeded control treatments. Each subplot, which supported steers (Bos taurus) from spring through summer, contained six, 0.10-ha sub-subplots for rotational stocking. Sorghum-sudangrass was after stocking cycle 2 in the subplot year. Vegetation were evaluated these adjacent subplot. Across years, sampling dates, treatments, LEG 7% greater biomass (2743 ± 102 kg ha−1) more days than FERT (2552 111 ha−1). sub-subplots, however, 36% pre-grazing 5. To optimize biomass, producers should fertilize early or maintain legumes pastures. provides an option late-summer biomass.

Dynamics of vegetation in Karun watershed within Khuzestan province in relation with Temperature factors and precipitation
The aim of this study is to retrieve land surface temperature (LST), air temperature (AT) and precipitation and to study their relationship with vegetation in rang lands of Karun watershed of Khuzestan province. For this purpose, land surface temperature (LST) and NDVI was drived from NOAA-AVHRR for maximum amount of greenness (April) for a period of 27 years. In order to extract LST, Price alg...

متن کاملThe effect of meteorological drought on vegetation dynamics in Iran
Drought as a complex ecosystem crisis can affect vegetation density and health. Iran with an arid and semi-arid climate is exposed to this phenomenon. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the effect of drought on vegetation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of meteorological drought on vegetation dynamics in Iran. In this regard, using MATLAB software, SPEI index with time ...
متن کاملNon-Neutral Vegetation Dynamics
The neutral theory of biodiversity constitutes a reference null hypothesis for the interpretation of ecosystem dynamics and produces relatively simple analytical descriptions of basic system properties, which can be easily compared to observations. On the contrary, investigations in non-neutral dynamics have in the past been limited by the complexity arising from heterogeneous demographic behav...
متن کاملVegetation dynamics amplifies precessional forcing
[1] The astronomical theory of climate variations predicts that the climatic precession which changes the seasonal distance between Earth and Sun does not affect the annual mean irradiation at any given latitude. However, previous modeling studies suggest that during interglacials, the interaction between atmosphere, vegetation and ocean can transform the seasonal forcing by precession into an ...
